Hours: 28 hours per week (days negotiable), maternity cover basis

Rate of pay: SCP 10 £20,751 per annum (pro rata)

Are you interested in how your Town Council manages and delivers its facilities? Do you have experience in facilities and a strong administrative skillset? The Council is seeking to take on a Project Support Officer (Facilities) on a temporary basis for maternity cover; ideally starting in October.

The role of Project Support Officer (Facilities) is responsible for the Town Council’s facilities, including events. You would be responsible for supporting the Town Council’s concessions and street trading which involves liaising with concessions in the negotiation of licences and offering continued support throughout their term. This will require confidentiality at all times, and you will need to be able to evidence knowledge of commercial contracts and tender processes.

The role is responsible for facilitating the bookings and maintenance of the Town Council’s open spaces and, on occasion, overseeing the organisation of and liaison with externally led community events being held on Town Council property.

The role is also responsible for organising and delivering the Town Council’s events such as Christmas Magic and Armed Force’s Day.

You will need to be a great communicator, whether over the phone, by email or face-to-face, with a variety of people and in differing situations. Confidence and ability with report writing, writing of press releases and a logical mindset will be key in this role. You would be required to attend occasional Town Council events, approximately 3-4 per year.

Previous local government or public sector experience would be ideal but is not necessary if you feel happy to commit to spending time learning the (often unique!) ways of public sector working and Local Government policies.

For the right person this is great chance to get involved with your local council. We are a small office and team, so you will regularly get involved in brainstorms and idea generating with activities, events and projects of the Council.

The hours for the role are 28 per week, across Monday to Friday with the actual days of work negotiable. Being maternity cover, we cannot be 100% sure on dates and will need to confirm nearer the time the exact length of the contract (plenty of notice will be given). Ideally you would be starting in October 2019. The role has been graded at local government scale point 10, the full time equivalent of £20,751 per annum.

The Council offers a generous package to its employees; as well as an above average holiday entitlement and organisational sick pay, there is an annual bonus offered to those with low absence levels, a subscription to Perkbox (an online discount platform), discount at The View restaurant & bar and Wave Leisure membership, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme, commitment to helping personal development and a flexible and friendly working environment.
