Chalvington with Ripe Parish Council wishes to appoint a Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer from January 2020. The Council is at an exciting stage in its development. It is producing a vision for the future of the Parish, has CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) money to invest and at the same time it is trying to protect the local environment from the challenges of an expanding local economy. The Council has an annual precept of circa £13000.
The new Clerk will manage the Council’s statutory obligations, organise and record the Council’s activities and be under a statutory duty to carry out all the functions of this role.
The Clerk will be responsible for ensuring that the instructions of the Council in connection with its function as a Local Authority are carried out. The Clerk is expected to advise the Council on, and assist in the formation of, overall policies to be followed in respect of the Authority’s activities and to produce all the information required for making effective decisions. The Clerk will be the Responsible Financial Officer and responsible for all financial records of the Council.
The Clerk is not required to live in the Parish but will need to attend meetings held in the Parish, usually on the first Monday of the month.
The position is for 26 hours per month. The pay is £12.64 ‐ £17.57 depending on experience.
The applicant should hold the Certificate in Local Council Administration or be prepared to obtain it.
